How did you meet?

Our families knew each other and introduced us. We chatted on the phone for a couple of weeks and then met in person. The more time we spent getting to know each other, the more we realised we had a similar approach towards life and thus we took things forward.

Tell us about the proposal.

The proposal actually happened a month after our first meet. Sugandha was staying in Mumbai, so I flew there to meet her. We had dinner on a yacht. With a candle-lit table on the upper deck and some soft music in the background, I officially asked her to be my partner in crime. And with joyful tears in her eyes, she said YES! And that’s how our story began.

Why did you choose Thailand?

The wedding day is the most memorable day of your life, so everything from the venue down to the tiny details had to be perfect. Thailand’s rich culture, natural scenery and beautiful resorts, villas and private properties put it high on our list for a destination wedding. With direct flights from major cities in India, connectivity to Bangkok was really easy for our guests. This was one of the most important factors when we were considering destinations. Moreover our wedding planner Abhishek, assured that despite being outside India, we could still have all the ceremonies and events as per Indian traditions. Also he showed us a range of entertainment options such as Thai dance performances, cabaret shows, and Thai fire juggler, which were all very fascinating. He delivered all the services he promised and made our wedding amazing.

Why did you pick the particular city?

We always wanted to have a beach wedding and Thailand definitely has some of the best beaches in the world. After checking out a couple of places, we found Pattaya to be the most ideal choice. With its serene beaches, amazing resorts and close proximity to Bangkok, we had no second thoughts.

Which hotels did you choose for your functions?

Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya had all we needed to turn our dream wedding into a reality. It was the perfect property with large sea-facing guestrooms, beautiful big ballrooms and plenty of outdoor venues options for our events. The resort also has an in-house waterpark, thus our guests were able to relax and unwind in their leisure time. The private beach was well maintained and was perfect for hosting our beach carnival. When we the helpful and friendly management, we were sure our guests would have a lovely time in this place. Thus we opted for Centara.

How many guests were there?

350

What is your best memory from the wedding?

Since we were short of time, we had our pre-wedding shoot in Pattaya a few days before the wedding and it turned out to be a memory that we will cherish the most. For our shoot we had incorporated various places including Coral Island, the floating market and our resort where we got some amazing photos. We also got some beautiful candid shots in the vibrant atmosphere of Walking Street. Coral Island offered a change of pace from the busy beaches of Pattaya with its tranquil surroundings, beautiful beaches and clear waters and we were able to get some amazing pictures and videos here. The use of the drone to capture us riding a jet ski is the highlight of our video. But more than the photo shoot, the most memorable moments for us was the chance to spend an entire day together in this out-of-the-world place.

What is the best wedding advice you can give engaged couples?

The only advice we can give engaged couples is to follow your heart and do what you both are comfortable with. A wedding is for the family and the marriage is for you. There will always be some ups and downs during the wedding planning, and some events might not go as planned, but in the end it’s your moment and it will always be perfect.

Functions: We had eight functions starting with a welcome dinner on the beach where we served our guests Lebanese, Mongolian and Indian cuisines. We also had a Carnival theme party on the beach with Mexican and Indian cuisines with a rain dance, watersports, and a variety of games. The sangeet in the ballroom had a Gatsby theme with exciting dance performances. The reception was also in the ballroom with Punjabi and Japanese cuisine and a singer from India. During the different events we had a range of entertainment including a violinist, fire show, belly dancing, a fantasy show and much more.
